ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning

 

The goal of the GMS World Language Program is to develop students' language proficiency around modes of communicative competence reflecting real life communication. To achieve that goals, we adhere to the ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and Communities.

 

 

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is an individual membership organization of more than 12,500 language educators and administrators dedicated to to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. They provide vision, leadership and support for quality teaching and learning of languages.

 

Language Learning: a 21st Century Skill

 

The Partnership for 21st Century Skills confirms that, learning other languages and understanding the culture of the people who speak them is a 21st Century skill that is vital to success in the global environment in which our students will live and work.
